Troop 190 has a flexible program that helps the boys progress through the Scout ranks at their own pace. The program is structured so that adults and older scouts mentor the younger, incoming scouts. The boys start by earning the rank of Tenderfoot and are encouraged to continue advancing up to the rank of Eagle, the highest honor in scouting. This program allows the boys to balance multiple interests such as school, church, music, sports and family.
Troop 190 has a very active calendar. We generally have campouts once each month. First year Scouts camp as a patrol and learn the basics of the outdoors such as setting up a tent, building a fire and cooking. This develops social skills including cooperation and teamwork. Second year scouts begin learning more advanced outdoor skills. Adults are encouraged to participate in activities and we also have several activities that include the whole family.
Some of the highlights from our annual calendar: Klondike Derby (Snow cave building, snow camping and winter games) - Summer Camp (One week spent at one of the Northwest Scout camps) - Canoe Trips - Mt. St. Helens Climb - Camping at Rainbow Lake
We meet weekly at The Cathedral of Joy in Richland. Parents are welcome to attend these meetings.
